Eugene, OR, USA - April 29th, 2015 - Ground Control today is fully launching Resolve Basics, its FREE training series on DaVinci Resolve. The course covers the basics of importing projects, organizing footage, essential Resolve settings, color correction, creative color grading, and rendering projects for final output, as well as many tips and tricks on the color grading process.
The training series is available for FREE at www.resolvebasics.com
Resolve Basics, hosted by Colorist and CEO of Ground Control, Casey Faris, begins with creating a new project in DaVinci Resolve and importing footage to be color graded. The series covers different methods of bringing in existing edits from other apps using XML, EDL, and Scene Detect. If viewers want to build their project from scratch, there are tips for building an edit within Resolve's Edit tab.
Organizing Footage, one of the most essential steps in any post production workflow, is covered in detail within Resolve Basics. Viewers will learn how to verify frame accuracy, how to manage media, and how to keep clips, folders, and timelines organized.
In addition to organization, viewers will learn basic settings to maximize the efficiency and usability of DaVinci Resolve. This includes setting color spaces, broadcast safe requirements, and project preferences.
Color Correction within Resolve is covered in detail within the series. Viewers will learn how to adjust exposure, contrast, saturation, and white balance for nearly any shot. In addition to the basic controls, viewers will find tips for matching shots, fixing color-related problems, and setting RAW settings.
Resolve Basics also has several lessons on creative color grading. The basics of curves, qualifiers, nodes, windows, and tracking are all covered within the series. Viewers will learn how to make adjustments to their images to give footage beautiful character.
The final chapter focuses on rendering a project out of Resolve. Viewers will learn how to set render settings and send their footage out of Resolve to another app, or even as a final deliverable movie.
"This isn't the series that touches on every single control and knob," said Casey Faris, CEO, Ground Control. "This is training that will introduce new users to the general workflow and controls in DaVinci Resolve and give them the knowledge to be able to grade a project in a matter of a couple hours. There are plenty of training series out there that cover every little control in each panel, so we didn't need to make another. This is an easy-to-follow guide for anyone curious about Resolve and the wide world of color grading. And the best part, the whole series is FREE!"
